Fairview Cemetery was adopted into Historic District of Van Buren
$10,000.00 grant was granted to City of Van Buren to restore Wallace Children's Monument in Fairview Cemetery and work will be done by Norton Arts on-site in July of this year. This grant is an Arkansas Preservation Restoration Grant from AHPP
Van Buren Historic District, being a Certified Local Government, received $6,100.00 in grant funds to help with costs for putting together a city-wide preservation plan, and with training for staff and Commissioners. This grant funding has also awarded $2,500.00 to King Opera House to help with maintenance and repairs of the building.
Van Buren was designated as a Preserve America Community recently. To learn more about Preserve America, visit www.PreserveAmerica.gov.
Historic District Commission donated $1,300.00 for interpretation education to the Drenen-Scott House for Historical Interpretation Program. The funds will be used to purchase materials to help with education program for K-12 students in this area. The funds are from CLG Grant Program.
