The Van Buren Police Department is an equal opportunity employer.  

bullet Basic qualifications include: at least 21 years of age; U.S. citizen by birth or naturalization; free of a felony record including any violation of the domestic abuse statutes; of good character (determined by a thorough background investigation); high school graduate or have a General Education Development Certificate (GED); and possess a valid driver's license.  
bullet In addition, candidate: fingerprints will be submitted to state and national files to disclose any criminal record; must pass a physical exam by a licensed physician and meet the physical requirements prescribed by state law; will be examined by a licensed psychiatrist or psychologist to determine competency; and must submit to and pass a drug screen.
bullet All candidates will be interviewed by the Chief of Police prior to offer of employment to determine motivation, appearance, demeanor, attitude, and ability to communicate.

We are taking applications for a Police Officer.
The civil service exam will be Monday January 28th at 6pm at the Crawford County Adult Education Center. Pick up applications at the Police Dept from now until 4:30pm on the date of the test.
