FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 19, 2006

On Friday, Van Buren Police arrested a South Carolina truck driver for Possession of Sexual Material Involving a child. Another truck driver who had seen the suspect with pictures of young girls on his computer contacted police. The suspect was located at the USA Truck Terminal in van Buren where he was interviewed and his truck and computer were both searched. Two computers were seized and when searching the computer files, numerous pictures of young, nude girls were found. More pictures and CDs were also found during a search of his truck. The CDs also had pictures of nude children in sexual positions on them. The investigation is on-going and more charges are possible. The suspect is being held at the Crawford County Jail. A large amount of evidence has been collected which will need to be reviewed that may result in several more felony charges. This could be the largest child pornography case investigated by the Van Buren Police to date. We expect to be in contact with agencies from the suspect's hometown early next week to advise them of the case. We will also be asking Missing and Exploited Children for their assistance in identifying the victims in the pictures/videos and other guidance during the investigation. No criminal history has been found on the suspect.

We hope to have more information available early next week.
