A Welcome Letter from the Mayor
On behalf of the City Council and staff of the City of Van Buren, I want to welcome you to our special community. As Mayor of Van Buren, I'm pleased that you have taken the time to connect through this website. Not only does this site enable us to share information with the citizens of Van Buren, but it also provides us with the opportunity to share Van Buren with the world.
Originally known as Phillips Landing, Van Buren was officially renamed for United States President Martin Van Buren in 1838. Since then, Van Buren has grown into a unique city that provides a high quality of life with a low cost of living. Located at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains along the Arkansas River, Van Buren is ideal for families and businesses.
We have a strong belief in regional cooperation and partnerships as we move together to the future. Van Buren's location, workforce, and economy make it perfectly placed for continued growth. If you have questions, we'd love to hear from you. Thank you for your interest in Van Buren. I hope you'll visit us often.
Mayor Joseph Hurst
